You can go to another computer and install Dropbox on that, and if you log in with the same credentials, your files are instantly replicated onto that other computer. You update any of your files, it automatically gets synchronizes with the cloud, and it’s instantaneous. So the files are stored both locally on your computer and in Dropbox. So the way it works is that you have an agent on your computer that synchronizes with Dropbox in the cloud.
